equality, diversity, inclusivity + accessibility

Small Stage believes in the power of art + community, we bring communities to life and people together through the performing arts. We create accessible public art and events with diverse emerging and professional artists, reflective of and honouring the place in which they perform. Often using technology to enrich and extend the experience.

Supporting people + communities

Our activities are specifically designed for impact “on the street”, so that members of the public can encounter art and performance outside of theatre walls. We connect people with culturally diverse professional artists from various cultural traditions and backgrounds in their community.

Equity, Access + Diversity

Our activities are inclusive, wide reaching and diverse. We create safe spaces for both performers and audiences to enjoy and learn diversity and inclusion. We break down barriers by holding shows in outdoor public spaces to make art accessible to all ages, income groups and abilities.

Developing local artists + talent

Small Stage engages professional artists and creatives through its ongoing ventures. We are committed to investing and developing local artists and their creative practice, including all styles, cultures, ages, and abilities. Our goal is to provide encouragement and support, while helping artists explore and realize their concept in a way they cannot do on their own.

Diversity + inclusion is more than a box to tick.

Our commitment at Small Stage is to work with individuals from different cultures, perspectives.  Our goal is to transform the arts and find new ways to  create and experience work that is innovative, intercultural, intersectional and breaks down barriers.
