Creative Residency 2022

Dream-a-thon Creative Lab

ABOUT the Lab

The Lab brings artists and practitioners back together post-pandemic to hone their skills and practice creating things together again, an essential step for the future of the arts in Canada.

The Lab will provide and give  workshops, mentorships, internships, opportunities to network with different disciplines hands-on training and present performances..

Building off its core values of collaboration, curation, inclusivity and experimentation, we will leverage our vast networks, cross disciplinary and cross sectoral partners in order to give artists, designers and practitioners unique professional development opportunities.

The Small Stage Lab will be comprised of the following FOUR phases:

1- WORKSHOPS

2- INTERNSHIPS + MENTORSHIPS

3- RESIDENCIES

4- TIPS AND TRICKS

WORKSHOPS

A series of intensive workshops designed to re-familiarize artists and practitioners with various hard-skills including, but not limited to traditional and virtual production, business and marketing.

INTERNSHIPS + MENTORSHIPS

Invited participants of the Design-a thon

Participants in the project will be matched with experienced artists, practitioners and teachers.  This phase is intended to provide individual coaching and support.  It will include job shadowing, review of real-life operations, find teaching moments at the end of each day/week and assist in preparing for the next steps in the creation process. With the support of community partners.

DESIGN- JAM + Lab

This phase is about collaboration and key to the entire project.

Participants (partners, artists, designers and technicians/practitioners) are invited to a series of collaborative sessions designed to engage creative participation within boundaries in order to develop connections within the community.

This phase brings people together by focusing on the creative process and not the final product.

Part of this process will involve prototyping various set, props and/ or short performance works, creating community connections and such.
